Organizing your time

Organizing your time

Your days are like your dollars. If you dont organize them and have a plan, they have a way of disappearing. To take control of your time, carve out space for your priorities and getting rid of the time-wasters.

Organize your time by treating your time like it's money.

* Spend a week tracking how you spend your time. Chances are, you will be shocked.

* Tally your expenses. Put your commitments into a few categories. Think family, career, housework, hobbies, fitness and relationships. List three major goals for each. Don't be too project oriented though. Wanting more hours to enjoy your marriage or kids is perfectly valid.

* Be selective. ditch any tasks that don't move you toward your goals. If something that is a recreational activity has stopped being fun, stop doing it. Don't feel guilty about it either. Your time is valuable. Add in something new that will have a payoff.

* Make your new plan in organizing your time. On a blank weekly calendar, mark off sleep hours and then slot in your activities, starting with anything that is regularly scheduled such as commuting, exercise class, your regular meetings etc. Then draw in blocks of time based on your categories. Schedule in housework and movie night. Use your goals to prioritize.

The more that you organize your time, the more you will see that you will get done. Staying on a plan will help you to have more time for the funner activities in life.

Enjoy
